Ogunquit Part 1

Hold on to your hats, folks. I think this is the longest post ever...in terms of pictures. I just couldn't take any one of these out!!  This is in two parts- Ogunquit Part 1 and 2-have fun!!

Last weekend (Memorial Day weekend) we went up to Ogunquit (obviously) with Grammy, PawPaw, and Great MawMaw.  I don't think I have to tell you people that I absolutely love Ogunquit- love it all.  Cole found it all incredibly fun as you can tell from the pictures below. Enjoy!!

There's Brendan on the left-- ha, ha....just kidding!!

Don't do it Brendan! : )  I wish I had audio of Cole screaming and giggling at the same time during this moment.

Run away!!

Cole found the idea of running to and from the tide to be lots and lots of fun. Love his expression and pose here!

Charlotte was happy enough to play in the sand!

Another close up of Cole I love.

Yay! I love the ocean!

Come and get me, you ocean!

And, he's in folks.

Brendan and Charlotte loving the sand in between their hands.

Ogunquit Part 2

Look at those pigtails go!

Here's Charlotte fading away at the beginning of our walk along the Marginal Way.

Cole and PawPaw had to sit at every bench along the way! (There are a lot of them!)

Found a cove and had to get back to that ocean.

When we finished our walk we found a wonderful outside seating area to rest and enjoy the day.  PawPaw and Cole had a lot of fun playing "where's that lobster?"  Charlotte would just look and point and give away the hiding spot.

There he is!!

Charlotte gives it away.

Cole is all "Maine-ified" with goodies from his day.  What a wonderful day we had!!  Look for more adventures posted here soon!

I'm a sap, yes, I know

I love country music...love it. And it often makes me laugh and cry which is part of what I love about it. It's such a "feeling" kind of music!! Here's a new song from Darius Rucker (yes, that would be the front man of Hootie and the Blowfish) that is just too, too perfect for my life right now:

It Won't Be Like This for Long

He didnt have to wake up
He’d been up all nite
Lay’n there in bed listen’n
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK

It wont be like this for long
One day soon we’ll look back laugh’n
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
It wont be like this for long

Four years later bout four thirty
She’s crawling in there bed
And when he drops her off at preschool
She’s clinging to his leg
The teacher peels her off of him
He says what can I do
She says now dont you worry
This will only last a week or two

It wont be like this for long
One day soon we’ll drop her off
And she wont even know your gone
This phase is gonna fly by
If you can just hold on

It wont be like this for long
Soon she’ll be a teenager
And at times you’ll think she hates him
Then he’ll walk her down the isle
And he’ll raise her vale

But right now she up and cry’n
And the truth is that he dont mind
As he kisses her good night
And she says her prayers
He lays down there beside her
Till her eyes are finally closed
And just watch’n her it breaks his heart
Cause he already knows

It wont be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
Yeah this phase is gonna fly by
He’s try’n to hold on
It wont be like this for long
It wont be like this for long.

A Day with Maw-Maw

Last Friday we went out to the coast with Maw-Maw who is visiting from Louisiana.  The great thing about Cole's age is that he remembered who Maw-Maw was when we were telling him about her impending visit.  It all goes back to the first time she met Cole when he was about 5 or 6 weeks old, we went apple picking, Brendan was filming and he asked her what we were doing (you know, for the camera's sake in case people viewing couldn't see the trees laden with bright red apples), and she said "We're picking apples today." Now I cannot even attempt to convey this in words but the inflection in her voice, combined with the southern accent was a line that stuck and Brendan and I love to repeat it.   So Maw Maw became the apple lady to Cole when he met her last year and now she is just Great Maw Maw but that will always be remembered. We are so blessed that she is able to visit and Cole and Charlotte are able to enjoy her.  Cole loves being silly with her and Great Maw Maw and Charlotte now have a little game going about Great Maw Maw "getting" Charlotte's toes. Charlotte lifts up her feet when she has seen Maw Maw this past week. It is too too cute.

Anyway, we went to New Castle Beach which is a state beach here in NH and is just awesome for finding shells and crabs and other fine ocean friends.  I have many many pics of me as a little girl poking through tide pools and gathering shells.  Cole loved doing just that this time around. Charlotte was fearless and started running to the water and going in up to her knees and would have gone farther if I had let her!  Her personality is complex and I am still learning more about this little girl every day. Sometimes shy, often silly, and always curious, this girl keeps me guessing and I love it!

Blue sky like you read about! ( Hey, wait, you just did! Ha!)  I crack myself up. Sigh...

The power of a...um...power suit

Brendan and I had an email conversation today that went like this:

B: "Hey, how's your day?"
Me: "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
B: "Same problems?"
Me: "Yes, more issues, but no worries because I have my suit on today"
B:  "Complete with super  powers?"
Me: "Yes thank goodness"

I wore a suit to work today and after getting a couple "So how was your interview?" remarks from my staff (who were half joking I think!)- I found wearing a suit to work to be quite....awesome.  I actually felt more confident in it.  My desk was magically cleaned.... I was in two meetings at once.... Problems wonderfully fell into nice neat solutions at my feet...it was amazing! Ok- so my day wasn't that smooth (as you can tell from the email) but there is something about wearing a suit that is just really really positive. I think I'll wear it on errands some time and see what happens.  Ha-ha!! Just kidding.... I think.

Neighborly Neighbors!

Yes, I'm behind on my blogging. No, I am not going to post all of my updates tonight. Yes, I will post them soon. No, I will not stop this.  Yes, I will provide a caption for the above pictures!

We see our lovely friends the Rogers so much I don't pull out my camera as much anymore! But I should because these pics will be priceless when they are all graduating high school and during other emotional and bittersweet events!

I love the pic of Cole and Charlotte looking at one another.  They are like, hey, what's up?

And in the first picture- why is Cole (R.) only wearing one shoe? I've already forgotten! : )

Buddies

I'm way behind on my blogging but I've got to start somewhere right?  We spent a day with the Sevin clan a couple weeks ago and Cole and Cameron as usual couldn't get enough of playing together.  Was able to capture some cute moments. I hope they always have this friendship throughout life!

Take me out to the ballgame...

Woo-hoo! Caden and Cole are now playing Tball! We signed them up through the local YMCA and had our first "game" this past Saturday. I have to admit it was a little disorganized- I guess the Y had signed up too many kids- thankfully they have now split the 3-4 year olds into a 9am and a 9:45 time so it'll be more manageable for the next 6 Saturdays!  Cole was excited to play- he LOVES baseball. I know he prefers when someone pitches the ball to him to hitting it from a tee but he was just happy to be playing.  I hope for the next weeks the "coaches" are a bit more organized so they use the 45 minutes efficiently but Cole and Caden had a lot of fun! I would also like the disclaimer out there that Brendan took most of these photos- for instance- he cut off Cole's and Caden's feet in the photo above!! (I feel like I have to explain my photos now that I am taking a class.  So silly!)

Although.... with the amount of kids there was  lot of waiting....

What's this thing and how do I put it on?

And waiting...

Hi Dad! (Yes, oddly enough there is a parent on the field taking photos. See what I mean about disorganized??! Oh well!)

Hummm, I think Mom needs to cut my nails...

So patient...

Finally! Action! It was funny to see every single one of the kids in the field run for the ball.  Hilarious really.

Cole hit the ball! Run, Cole, Run!

Team cheer! Goooooo team!
